Challenge
SMEs constitute 52% of Mexico’s GDP, and generate approximately 72% of all employment in the country (INEGI, 2020). Nonetheless, SMEs struggle with keeping a reliable cash flow, as they are often subject to delayed payments that can take anywhere between 30 and 180 days.
This project’s main goal was to provide SMEs with a constant cash flow, allowing them to sustain their day-to-day operations. All of this, done through a digital, accessible and fast-activated credit product. In order to achieve our objective, the project was developed around the use of digital tools, which enabled the credit to have the desired characteristics and that complied with the industry’s transparency and security standards.
Project
By using a methodology that ensures the resolutions of the user’s pain points, the capitalization in the elements that generate the most value for them and the technical viability of the project, a digitally-activated credit product was developed. This product gave SMEs access to credits ranging from $150,000 to $300,000 MXN in less than 72 hours, providing them with cash flow to continue operating. This is achieved through a user-friendly onboarding process, a backend connection for verification with the SAT and the assignment of a credit score in order to determine the amount of the loan. In addition, an administrative platform and an attractive web page were developed for this tool.
How do we bring value?
- By identifying the elements that need to be improved, as well as those that generate the most value to our target market.
- By empowering by addressing a real need, identified in the SMEs segment.
- By providing an accessible and easy-to-use platform, design with the user at the forefront of every decision.
- By increasing the possibilities for SMEs to access attractive credit products, while reducing the traditionally long time involved in these types of processes.

Who are we designing for?
During this project, the focus was put on SMEs owners, who struggle to access attractive credits.
The lack of a constant and reliable cash flow complicates the sustainability of their businesses’ operations (payroll, purchase of supplies, among others).

The path to the MVP
After the design process, we developed a tool that had the necessary features for its launch to market. We call this product an MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
After the implementation of the MVP, its reception and use are analyzed, in order to gather new insights, which help develop additional modules and features, that add to the SMEs owners’ experience with the product.
