How was the project created?
How was the project created?
Challenge
In a state where the climate is way too extreme, electricity consumption, in addition to being a basic need, represents one of the main expenses of the family income. This need increases for those who live in marginalized areas or are part of social assistance institutions. Energía Sonora seeks to help Sonoran families and institutions reduce their electricity consumption through renewable energy. The challenge consisted in the cohesion of four programs in the same digital ecosystem, seeking a light and self-sustaining operation.
Project
Through a deep immersion with people from marginalized areas and managers of social assistance institutions, the needs were determined, which went beyond solar panels; where other products such as different categories of electrical equipment and payment facilities were included. The critical point was to translate the care approach towards a sustainable model that continued to benefit those most in need. With this in mind, different centralized digital products were designed in the same digital ecosystem, allowing self-sustainability without losing the non-profit focus. The design of a webapp was captured; where you can schedule free appointments to obtain an electrical diagnosis. An e-commerce with preferential prices and easy payments. And finally, a crowdfunding platform to donate solar panels and electrical equipment to social assistance institutions.
How do we generate value?
- Project self-sustainability.
- Complementarity and cohesion of the programs.
- Social approach and collective participation.
- Benefits for all parties involved.
- Centralization of the different programs in the same digital ecosystem.
- Design of different user-centered navigation flows.

The path towards the MVP
First of all, each one of the programs and the context in which Sonorans live was thoroughly understood.
Subsequently, both the healthcare model and the different digital tools were designed, taking into account the minimum functionalities so that the experience worked and could generate value. Investment is currently being sought for product development.
